Emiko most resembles her mother. Emiko has short spiky blue hair, and light blue eyes. For being a Japanese girl, she's unusually tall (about 5' 9”), which made her the butt of teasing in high school and most of her childhood. She's more fit than skinny, due to clubs she felt forced into in her high school career. Her expressions are usually exaggerated and childish, which makes for young features, and if she wasn't so tall, people would assume she was still in high school. She's attractive, but Emiko doesn't think of herself as model worthy. If anything, she's cute, not beautiful.

Emiko tends to wear comfortable clothing, which equals big shirts and baggy pants. Blue jeans are her preference. She still wears more 'feminine' attire, skirts over pants, or colorful shirts, but will far from hesitate to shop in the men's section of a department store, shooting off the excuse 'her size is hard to find.' Her style can be tributed to the nineties, but thats only on rare occasions. On cold days, she'll be seen in a University sweatshirt. Warm days, she'll nearly always be in a plain T-shirt.

Ever since she was a child, Emiko has always acted more her shoe size, rather than her age. She exaggerates her emotions, eccentric and easily excited, argues if somebody pisses her off, and is lazy when encountering things she has no interest in. It takes a lot to upset Emiko, and even more to make her mad. She's generally easy-going, but that could be pilled in with just being lazy.

Since as a child, she rarely had her own space, she enjoys her single dorm, and plasters it with posters of her favorite music artists, anime posters, pictures of her friends back home, and whatever other nic-caks that don't fit in such a small space. If anything, it looks like a small home; and Emiko firmly believes that if she is to live in a place for longer than a month, then it should look and feel like home. Lord knows how the packrat manages to fit everything in only a dorm room, but as long as she has a water boiler so she can make instant ramen, miso, and whatever other substance that only “needs water!,” she's fine.

When it comes to deeper emotions, such as love; she's distant. She doesn't like talking about her own feelings, and when she does, she's vague. She is often compelled by her emotions however, so if she has a crush on someone, its painfully obvious to everyone but her. She'll deny everything of course, but if the object of her desires showed love back, she'd be easily whipped, in attempt to make the person happy. She has never felt an emotion as strong as love before, so she thinks of her attraction to the same sex as only admiration. Until one shows up that rocks her world; so to speak, she'll be as dense as she ever was. If something hurts her, she'll try and shoo it off as if she's not hurt, but to those close to her, it would be clear that something is bothering her.

She'll party, and party hardy. Be the protected childhood she lived, she will not refuse a drink if it is offered to her.

When she speaks, she uses more slang, even when speaking to people of authority. She's not overly articulate, so she'll rarely be heard using 'big words' when smaller words get the point across just as good. This only changes when she writes, but since she'd rather draw than write, this is rarely learned by others. She isn't adverse to cursing, but only uses light swears, such as 'ass' or 'damn'. This could also be attributed to the fact that she is still studying English as a language.

Emiko loves art, and has been drawing ever since she was little. Don't be surprised if you see her in class, doodling instead of taking notes. She's easily distracted, so if her attention wanders in the middle of a conversation, smack her a bit to get her to come back to earth.

Emiko Watanabe was born in Hokkaido Japan, on June 12th to Nozomi and Raidon Watanabe, owners of a small food store. She has an older sister named Hikari, who has about six years of age on her. Emiko greatly respected her sister, and when she looks back on it now, probably annoyed the hell out of the woman, with her constant clinging and hovering.

When six, Emiko and Hikari's mother died, it hit the whole family hard, and Emiko resorted to acting out in class, or bullying other kids. It was strange, since Emiko had been the exact opposite before her mothers death, but it only made the sisterly bond between her and Hikari even stronger. Hikari had made it her responsibility to make Emiko change, and attempted to distract the young girl to a more worthy and less harmful hobby. Emiko was still brash and immature, but would only destroy herself in her later years, if such bravado was her way of dealing with pain.

It was then through Hikari, that Emiko discovered art. Her sister, satisfied that she had found a harmless outlet for her younger sister, supported Emiko in her artistic endeavors. It turned out the girl was better than expected, and soon it became a creative outlet for her emotions, drawing whenever she was plagued by feelings she refused to let surface through dialogue.

It was in middle school when she first had gotten made fun of for her unusual height, and throughout her middle and high school career, people assumed she was a trouble maker (by which this time, she had grown out of), and 'up to no good.' She combated this with usual likeness, retorting by making fun of the bully, or even throwing a punch or two. It was also in middle school when she started thinking about 'love.' Although she never attributed herself to being infatuated with such things, the strange thing was she noticed more of the same sex, rather than fawn over ones of the opposite. Emiko didn't want to think anything of it, and simply shooed it off as admiration for some of the more outstanding female students in her school. It was one of those things that Emiko felt compelled to keep to herself however, not even discussing it with her sister.

When she graduated high school, she hoped college would be an exciting new change, taking her away from the small town of Hokkaido, and into the city, where she could take her now perfected skill of drawing, and use it to make a living for herself.
